Color / Shading Practice

I actually finished this a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to post it without a background and lazy me just never got around to it. However! It has a background now. Originally, it was going to include trees and foliage and tree spirits and just general greenery goodness. As you can tell, the effort stopped with her.

Anyway, as the title states I was mainly using the sketch for color / shading practice.

Often times I don't like to share sketchbook pages (the-kind-of-person-who-doesn't-like-others-to-see-their-incomplete-work), but as I was doodling, the expression on one sketch in particular reminded me of the song from Wicked called "I'm not that girl..." So I polished it up and threw in some color.

Ultimately, it turned into more Sailor Moon fan art. :P  I thought that Sailor Mars especially identified with Elphaba in that moment as she watched her unrequited love choose another. :)

Supreme Thunder

Definitely still on a Sailor Moon kick. ;) Re-watching those episodes made me curious as to whether or not some of the old websites I used to spend hours on when I was 11 were still live or not. Most of them weren't. But www.sailorjupiter.com is! AND the site is undergoing an upgrade, so I volunteered to do some illustrations for the site. Tee hee! It's been a very, VERY long time since I've done anything in manga/anime styling, but it was fun to revisit! Here's the first:

100 Themes Challenge

In an effort to pick up the pencil more, I decided to jump into a silly little thing called the "100 Themes Challenge". The gist of the challenge is this: make 1 piece of art per theme--multiple themes per image are not allowed. Simple! Right? So here's my take on "deep in thought".

Upon dedicating myself to learning the principles of scripting and Houdini for the past year and few months, I have unfortunately neglected my sketchbook. Like alot. So to celebrate the start of my last term of university, here's a self portrait/caricature. Since I have to keep a sketchbook for one of my classes there will be more to come.
