Heaven
This was a quick birthday present for a friend (only took about a day
to a day and a half from design-to-finish). I think--for a cat
anyway--being tangled in ribbon is second only to catnip!

Homage to the Sketchbook
When it comes to sketchbooks... I've always been a loose leaf paper kind of girl. When the stack of doodles reached a certain height, I'd hole punch 'em and shove 'em in a 3 ring binder at the tippy top of my closet (most of the time I'd just wedge the papers into the pocket at the front of the binder and skip the whole hole-punching part of the process). Rinse, lather, repeat. Even through college I opted for loose leaf rather than a convenient book. Why? Too much to fight with! I couldn't open the book wide enough or the metal binding would get in the way or the pages were too big or the paper too smooth. I'd end up getting frustrated before I could actually get any drawing done. Imagine my despair when all of my instructors required the standard 8 1/2" X 11" sketchBOOK.
BUT NO LONGER
BEHOLD!
I love love LOVE! sketching in this little book! It is absolutely perfect for my quirky drawing habits. My friend Laurie (an extremely talented graphic designer... check out her stuff > here and here!) made this and sent it to me when we were in California--so this post has been a long time coming--but my perspective on sketchbooks has been forever changed!
